1/1/2024 0 Comments In love with fashion lovePeople have preconceptions of pre-loved, and I think we've managed to make the pieces we've sourced from eBay not look like the battered vintage people are expecting to see. We also want to prove the worth of trendless fashion - these aren't new products found in Zara and instead everything we have put in the villa was pre-loved. EBay's involvement will allow the islanders to have a more unique style and play with their clothing more. Previously the contestants basically all wore the same thing and there's a stereotypical “Love Island look” now. Already the response has been brilliant and people are impressed that ITV has moved away from fast fashion sponsors. How do you think eBay's involvement in Love Island will change viewer's attitudes towards shopping? We want to make the entire process waste free. All the clothes will go back to a second-hand seller called Go Thrift, where they'll be resold, or they will go to the charity shops that eBay works with. Unfortunately they won't be able to, which in previous seasons they have. Will the contestants get to keep the products? But then on the flipside we found a vintage Gaultier two-piece which was £40. I saw a Christopher Kane x Browns collaborative dress, which rose to £800, and that was the most expensive piece we bought. Bidding has challenges though as prices can really soar. Now though we've been bidding and it's a really fun way to do it. That was because we had a quick turnaround. We want nothing to go to waste and we want the clothing to really standout in the show.Īt the beginning we only did “Buy It Now”, which is only buying for the proposed price by a seller. Also there is a seamstress available, so clothes can be altered to suit indiciduals. We'd love to see a girl wear a guys shirt as a dress. The main element in all of this is the shared wardrobe, which we hope will make men and women wear the same products. One said a Dsquared2 hat, so he's getting that, and another will get a really nice high-end white tee. The contestants each get a gift box in the bedroom and for this I asked them what they'd really wanted. So on that press day I really got to know what people will want to wear. But so many of the boys said no way, and some of them have really cool personal styles. It's been really interesting as a lot of people, including those involved in the process, will associate Love Island with white skinny jeans. The four themes are “Love Me Forever”, which comprises pieces intended to be worn today or in 20 years, “Dopamine Dressing”, which boasts really colourful pieces, “Blurred Lines”, which is to do with gender-neutral dressing, and “Y2K”, which is pastel-heavy. We had a press day with ITV, which is where I met the 18 islanders and showed them some ideas for the clothes. With eBay's overwhelming amount of product we decided to make things easier by coming up with four product categories that would make up the shared wardrobe in the villa. What can we expect the Islanders to wear? ITV also wanted to move away from fast fashion, which is hugely exciting. As a company eBay has always thought about who its partners should be and how it can reach new people, and this seemed like a natural and exciting relationship. This was about two months ago and it's been non-stop since - I was asked to source pre-loved clothing across menswear and womenswear for Love Island. Unfortunately nothing came from it, but four years later eBay got in touch with me about working with them for an upcoming secret project. The pair, who tied the knot in May, have been inseparable since their gorgeous Italian wedding and Travis recently paid a loving tribute to The Kardashians star by calling her his 'partner in crime'.ĭo you have a story to sell?
